The Language Café was a personal project of a volunteer from the german-polish volunteer program in PPM Zajezdnia in 2016, which continues to this day.
The idea was to run a kind of Café for two hours every week for the local community in german and english. Everybody, regardless of their language level or age can come, share his thoughts about different topics and hone his language skills. Besides, there are offered coffee, tea and sweets for the participants. The aim is not like in classes to give language lessons to the participants. It is an open meeting – you can come and go at any time and talk about the topics you prefer. If there is interest, also games such as Taboo can be played together.
The Language Café takes place in the conference room in PPM Zajezdnia (Legnicka 65). When it is warm, there is also the possibility to let it happen outside. Currently the Language Café takes place every Wednesday between 5 and 7pm. It is run by volunteers from the german-polish Voluntary Service where Tratwa is patner, as well as our ESC-volunteers are partecipating. As we are volunteers from different european countries, there could also be added languages such as Spanish to the Language Café in the future.
Of course, now in the time of Corona Virus, we are following the regulations such as wearing a mask and keeping distance 🙂
